Role description

The realisation of (frequently strategic) business objectives (structural cost savings, incisive innovations, merger/integration processes, etc.) usually demands a programme-based approach and steering. Programme management lends shape to the selected business strategy, translates this into concrete business objectives and defines programmes which are oriented towards their realisation. These programmes usually include comprehensive, composite changes which must be developed and implemented in complex environments. ICT is occasionally an important ‘enabler’ here and a field where the changes often have consequences. The programme manager is the visible driving force behind the programme, i.e. he/she is pro-active, action-oriented and (final) responsible for an ongoing link between the programme goals and the organisational strategy.

"As a programme manager, I manage IT projects. That ranges from initiation and preliminary study to implementation, acceptance testing and hand-over to the support teams. I also perform sales-support activities and present demos to customers.

What is so good about my job is that I work in an international context, together with a motivated, multi-disciplinary team of specialists. Often, I am involved in customer's decision-making processes. The functional complexity also appeals to me. The more complex it is, the more challenging.

I am also part of the MES competence centre (Manufacturing Execution Systems). MES deals with what happens on the shop-floor of a manufacturing company. Interfaces with production machinery and ERP systems belong to that field, for example, like automatic recording of relevant production data without operator intervention. That is an extremeley interesting area on which to focus. Ordina offers me the opportunity to deepen my knowledge about it."
